With summer just around the corner and the weather slowly warming up, it’s time to spring clean your wardrobe ready for summer!

Look at the upcoming trends

Before you start throwing out clothes, make sure you check up on predicted upcoming trends that may make an entrance into the summer season. It’s devastating when you just get rid of those patterned trousers and now everyone is wearing them. You may have something lurking at the back of your wardrobe that’s a catwalk copy.

Be strict

Are you holding up that same floral top that you fall back in love with when you rediscover it, but never end up wearing again and until you discover it again next year? Get rid! If you come across any items of clothing that were in this same position, then you need to be strict. There must be a reason why you forget about items of clothing year on year. It’s a big clue that you’ve outgrown them or maybe your style has changed.

The THREE year rule

The three year rule is brilliant to go by if you are not sure about kicking out items from your wardrobe. If you haven’t worn the item in the last three years, let it go. Simple.

Good Karma

Don’t just throw your clothes in a bin. Go round to your local charity shops and ask for some charity bags, they will happily give you some, and instead of throwing out clothes, donate them to charity. Feel good factor guaranteed.

Wardrobe Hacks

A great habit to start doing in order to make dismissing items from your wardrobe easier is to really see what you wear. Start the season with all the hooks on the coat hangers turned towards you, when you get dressed in the mornings turn the hook away from you when you put your clothes back.

By the end of the season when you come to clear out your wardrobe, all the hooks remaining towards you are the items you rarely wear. Showing you exactly what your style preferences are and what you don’t really need in your wardrobe.
