Primark has withdrawn a line of men’s flip-flops after worries that they contain cancer-causing chemicals.
The flip-flops, in black, blue and khaki colours, were found to contain chrysene – which has been linked to causing cancer when tested on animals.
The high-street brand has suspended orders for the shoes and is offering refunds after the budget flip-flops were pulled from all stores on June 2. They first went on sale on January 4.
A Primark spokesman told Sky News: “We take the safety of our customers, and the quality of our products, very seriously, which is why we have chosen to recall three men’s flip flops from our Cedar Wood State range.
“All new orders with this factory have been suspended while we carry out a thorough investigation. A full refund is being offered to all customers.”
