It may be another nine months away, but word is starting to spread about fashion’s biggest red carpet event of the year; the Met Gala 2018.
From themes, to dates, here’s everything you need to know about the Met Gala 2018.
If you didn’t know already, the Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City – AKA the biggest fashion event of the year, with a-list celebrities, as well as some of fashion’s elite dressing stars for the red carpet.
According to The Telegraph, Fashion and Religion will be the theme of next year’s fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Although designers such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Christopher Kane, and Dolce and Gabbana, as well as celebrities such as Madonna and Lady Gaga, have donned religious silhouettes and imagery on their clothes, it is an interesting yet possibly controversial theme.
Especially when you compare it to this year’s exhibition which focused on avant garde fashion designer Rei Kawakubo and her label, Comme des Garcons – that origami Rihanna dress suddenly doesn’t look that OTT now does it.
The date for the event, in association with Vogue, is also rumoured to take place on Monday May 7, 2018.
What do you think of ‘Religion’ as the 2018 theme? What theme would you want to see?
